dancing with hedson
towards the end of the afternoon when it started to cool down a bit I found myself dancing away to the music watching the commotion around me and just generally enjoying myself. suddenly this guy comes up to me and goes - you are the best dancer on the pitch! (now, if you had been there (and probably even if you haven't) you would know that that was the biggest pile of crap - I stand absolutely no chance against semi-professional breakdancers...) but nice try! turns out his name is da vinci (seriously!) - the nice thing about him was that he really did only seem to want to come and say hello - or maybe it was the fact that I live in Kigali that put him off; at least he was being realistic ;-))
bomah grounds from above
as the sun started setting geraldine came along and took me up the hill behind bomah grounds to see the sunset - it was an amazing sight! the light in africa is amazing anyway - especially at dusk the color contrast is unbelievable. the colour of the clouds was that of lead and the green of the trees almost fluorescent - it's indescribable and my camera does the reality no justice - it was simply incredible.
standing on the hill looking down onto bomah grounds where there was still commotion from the festival as well as a football game was amazing - it was strange to be in the middle of it all at one point and then taking it all in from a bird's eye perspective the next moment. and the view onto the planes beyond kitgum was just stunning; seeing the sun setting behind the trees coating the world in a film of gold whilst the air is still warm and a tepid breeze kissing the hot and sticky cheeks. I cannot describe what a feeling it was to stand there and take it in - I am still having moments of 'huh - I'm in Africa!' and then the heart skipping a beat and a smile spreading over my face - I love it here!
